What does living the good life on Lummi Island look and feel like? What are the up and downsides of living here? This site offers glimpses into what it’s like to live on Lummi Island. Articles and photos focus on the Lummi Island community, in the broadest sense of the term: plants, animals, insects, soil, water, air, birds, sea creatures and — oh yes — humans. For better or for worse, we are both interdependent and individuals. Our joys, health, lives and deaths commingle as well as flow in separate streams. Search for articles by entering a key word into the search bar, or by clicking on one of the topics shown in the left column. Add comments, using the form at the end of each article. (You’ll be asked for some information, to help reduce spam.) Phone me or submit a comment if you’d like to:
- request an event be added to the calendar
- submit a post (article), photos, cartoons, etc
- suggest other links and resources
- help keep the Lummi Island Calendar up to date.

Summer Memory

Hey Wynne, thanks for posting the “Don” story by Jim Lane. I finally had time to read it and it’s hysterical! And well written… C
Have I told you how much we enjoy your photos… just saw the one of Many from last Christmas. Priceless. We actually spotted her about 6′ up in our 8′ tree this year… gold eyes happily peering out and very proud of herself.
Then up a cat tree she went into the open rafters… about 12′ high. When Magic (blk/white/alpha south coast big sur cat) was on the cat tree and spotted her.. all hell broke loose as, apparently, NO other cat may perch above him!
Hope you are feeling better.
Love, Sister Anne
Happy Thanksgiving to my neighbors to the north.
Cheers!
We are thankful for island life, are we not?
Thanks Whidbey Woman. Your comment was a reminder I should stop reading & start writing again. Hope you’re sheltered today from the NE winds & have plenty of heat, whatever its source.
